Program Description
Advanced study in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business provides students
with state of the art knowledge of theory, methods and application in the field. The
student becomes better prepared for positions in the dynamic environment of contemporary
agribusiness and production agriculture.
Concentrations
Thesis Concentration
This concentration will ready students for careers in government or public sector,
policy analysis, researcher or analyst positions in industry or agribusiness. Additionally,
students interested in obtaining a Ph.D. will find that this concentration prepares
them for their continued education. Students who enroll will conduct in-depth research
and write results via a thesis project. At the culmination of the program, students
must pass a final oral comprehensive examination in defense of the thesis and successful
deposit of final approved written thesis with the UA Graduate School and Library.
Completion time is 21-24 months.

ATLANTIS Program
ATLANTIS is a double master's degree program in agricultural economics from the University of Arkansas and a joint degree in rural development issued by a consortium of six European partner universities. Students will spend
approximately two academic years in this program (four study terms and one summer
term), with up to 14 months spent abroad. A final thesis project is required in addition
to the completion of a case study during the summer. Coursework, research, and case
study will be in English in both the U.S. and Europe.

Agribusiness Non-Thesis
This program prepares students for careers in agribusiness, industry, commercial sector,
analyst positions and public sector. This program is particularly useful for students
interested in management, marketing, finance, and logistics. In addition to taking
classes at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (AEAB), students
may also enroll in up to six hours at Walton College of Business (WCOB). Internships
taken for graduate credit are encouraged, and courses include topics of research techniques
and agricultural policy. Program completion time is 12-16 months.

International Agribusiness Non-Thesis
The International Agribusiness Non-Thesis program readys students for careers in agribusiness,
industry and commercial sectors. Enrolled students will be eligible to gain international
experience by spending one semester abroad, spent at the University of Ghent, Belgium.
All courses are taught in English. A student's summer internship may be domestic or
abroad. Program completion time is 12-16 months.

Dual MS and LLM
The Dual MS and LLM program is targeted for persons with a law degree, J.D. or LL.B.,
for those seeking Master's of Agricultural and Food Law, and for those wanting to
simultaneously acquire an M.S. in agricultural economics. This is a joint program
with U of A's School of Law, and requirements of both degree programs must be met.
Although the joint program is designed for students to take the M.S. non-thesis agribusiness
concentration, the thesis concentration could be selected with proper petitioning
and approval of the faculty.
