Dr. Luckstead is a native of Walla Walla in Washington State. He received his B.S. in Economics and M.S. in Applied Economics at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. During his undergraduate degree, Dr. Luckstead ran the 60m and 110m hurdles on the UI track team. For his M.S. thesis, he analyzed the impact of trade and immigration policies on agricultural trade and immigration between the United States and Mexico. Dr. Luckstead then received his Ph.D. from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. His dissertation is title “Essays in Policy Analysis: Strategic Trade Theory and the Elimination of Agricultural Subsidies.”

Dr. Luckstead’s main research focus is on theoretical and applied agricultural policy analysis in international trade and industrial organization with an emphasis in strategic trade theory, the new empirical industrial organization methods, and dynamic models with firm heterogeneity and endogenous entry and exit.
